Michael is either gonna end up shutting down a lotta shit in the streets, or he's gonna be dead like the rest of em. My guess is he's gonna end up dead, and homeboy Dukie's gonna throw a bullet in somebody. I don't do previews, rumors, read-aheads, spoilers, none of that. I want my last season of The Wire to be what it should be - pure dope from beginning to end. But I got On Demand, so I may have to straighten some things out ahead of the Sunday night schedule. Anyways, I'm still a little upset that they broke up the squad, but that's just the signal of the beginning of the end. It's what had to happen in order to make this last season what it should be. McNulty ... this fool is TRIPPIN. He might get shot too, just fucking around with too many people. If I were Bunk .... sheeeit, I might have to shoot him in the leg just to get him off the SKREETS, nigga ....

I have a feeling that the Joe already knows about Marlo trying to go around him, the greeks probboly told him the second marlo tried to get down and Joe knew it when marlo brought the money to him to get cleaned.
Avon, Joe and the Greeks could all be working together to get rid of Marlo.
That pic of dukie dancing is foul cause it hasn't aired yet....and thanks to seeing it looks like something FOUL is gonna happen to one of them...they are humanizing (or childizing lol) them way too much.

i said it last year, for them to have joe playing both sides over and over and over and it finally starting to come back on him.....its about time that character gets got.
i'm loving this season though.....the news shit is pretty dumb but the point gets across about how integral the media is within the structure of a city like baltimore.

I really like the news stuff...but I kinda wish they would have made the newspapers tie into the earlier season a little more. I'll have to rewatch the series again to see if they really did, but being that I don't remember much about it I don't think they did.
Like it would have been dope if they had McNnulty, bunk and them go to the papers in earlier seasons, but just not show the details, just so the paper angle kinda lingered until it was fully developed in the last season. Who knows, they probobly did do stuff like that, I just don't remember...time to break out ll 4 season on DVD!

they did have the paper in previous seasons. like in season 3 when colvin had the hampsterdamn shit they had the reporter dude that found out about it and shit like that. they had it lingering so it wasn't outta the blue. every season seemingly they add another aspect in depth. season 1 was like the intro with the police vs. drugs and the law side of things season 2 showed the import/export season 3 showed the money laundering and the politics and how the politicians affect the policing and shit season 4 the schools were added and now season 5 the media. its truely a genius show and i hate to see it go but after this season it would probably get monotonous.

Impossible ©Tkeitha
It draws too much from real world/real life drama.
And that never gets boring. Or old.
There's always new drama in the streets.
Always.
If it were to get stale, it would be because the writers wouldn't be keeping it real enough so to speak.

i'm just saying they don't have many more angles they could come from. don't get it twisted if they kept making it, i'd be right there watching all of it.....the writers for this show are outstanding.
also: i saw where dominic west aka mcnulty is the credited director for an upcoming episode.....i think # 6 this season.....or #56 overall or something like that......should be interesting if thats the case.

I see what you saying now...
But they could do a whole 'nother season from the jail angle if they really wanted to.
They never really went as hard as they could from that POV.

yea i thought about that cause every season has had a BIT of it but never a whole lot but i think oz kinda killed that for hbo. they don't wanna see too much of the same over there. especially since quite a few of the same actors from the wire were on oz or atleast made cameos and shit.
but besides the jail...what else is there? hosptital? lord knows we don't need another doctor show on tv........i think they did a good job covering all the important aspects in depth. now i think they could re-visit a lotta stuff and continue in that depth but simon said he didn't want to. he said this is pretty much how the show was mapped out from the jump.

True, they've covered the bases, but more directions are always possible - ALWAYS. In essence, "The Wire" is simply a show about a city, and how that city's choices and actions toward certain subcultures can affect every aspect of the city. It's Baltimore, which is one of the reasons why I love the show so much, but it could very easily be a lot of cities and it would still be a great, watchable show. They could do a season involving one of these crews thinking really big and trying to set up shop across state lines. Now we've got a major investigation involving both Baltimore PD and another city's po's, and we got the new city's crews trying to shut down the new shop. You make the dynamics of that new city interesting enough, and you've got yourself another season in the bag, starting with a fresh new city. Nobody ever said "The Wire" HAS to be Baltimore.

Because he knows Baltimore. It's obvious that he knows the town, and he's the one to make this show, so if "The Wire" was going to be anywhere, that's where it was going to be. But the show can be about a lot of cities, and if the show's creator immersed himself in the culture of another city, then I'm sure he could do the same thing.

yea according to david simon.......he is what avon barksdales character is based on more or less. well......cutty also but in his prime, avon. harold melvin right? he said that he wanted him to be a part of the show since he was used so much for inspiration and shit. its amazing how much they tie in shit like that. thats what makes the show so great.
