I'm considering buying a PlayStation 3, but wanted to see what you people had to say about the two consoles first.

Just in case

got both. each has its strengths/ weaknesses

ps3 - 120gb - $299
pros:
blu-ray player...blu-ray format games...blu-ray is scratch proof
free online
true plug n play (drag n drop music, movies, etc from almost any device. even charges my blackberry)
built-in wireless
web browser
psp connectivity
bluetooth
plays ps1 games
more recent exclusives
reliable hardware (not prone to malfunction)
standard laptop hard drive, you can upgrade it in 5 minutes (500gb = $80)

cons:
bluetooth (cant use universal remotes)
ugly stripped down interface (imo)
gimped online community
no cross game chat
no custom soundtracks while playing games
no longer plays ps2 games
most pre-2009 games have no trophies/achievements

xbox 360 elite - 120gb - $299
pros:
sick ass interface
extremely active online community
integration with web apps (netflix, facebook, last fm)
plays OG xbox games
better controller (imo)
every game has achievements

cons:
online is $50/year
to go wireless you have to buy an $80 accessory
dvd format...moving it while playing will scratch the disc
hardware prone to failure
must format external hard drives to connect and use them
proprietary hard drive, upgrading costs an arm and leg (250gb = $120)
recent slump for exclusives
no browser
bigger games need multiple discs

personally i think the ps3 is a better value, but i think anybody would be perfectly happy with either one

Playing Tekken 6 online on the PS3 sucks. I mean REALLY sucks. I might consider trying out an XBox.

owning both, i gotta agree with my brotha doc on everything he posted, even though i could give 2 fux less about achievements and trophys because you don't get anything for them, damn can a brotha get at least some microsoft or sony points? got dam!

Neway i think im gonna have to go with the 360 on this ish. The online capabilities on this console is str8 CRACK. Once you get that first hit, it's over. The dashboard interface is ill, but the games are dope especially the exclusives. But i can't stand the damn 360 always having console hardware problems, i think i've had about 6 or 7 360's and out of those 2 or 3 of em always red ringed or e74'd. And the microsoft help people be on that fu@# shyt when tryna get help as well <shrugs> Love/hate relationship bruh.

Now the ps3, i'm no vet with this thing i've only had one since december. But the exclusives for this joint are dope as well. I love the browser on that thing, i often catch myself on youtube browsing for a hour or two on a bigger screen than my pc and (see the rest of what doc wrote)

the vgnerd strikes again

My boy has the PS3 and I got him online this past weekend and their online jumpoffs SUCK.

Just off the strength of the xbox live community, I'd say go for the 360. Granted they crash a lot hardware wise, but overall there are more games, better online jumpoffs and the controller is way better IMO.

I got both. If you are a big online gamer, then 360 beats. BUT if you don't care about that, I say PS3 hands down. Hardware stability, blu-ray, when a game is made to use the PS3's hardware, the games are phenomenal. You cannot ever compare games that are multi-platform because they are made for 360 then just ported over to PS3, because developing for PS3 first will require alot of recoding to satisfy the 360's much more limited capacities.

If/WHEN Sony starts having a "premium" online service which will be pay, the whole online issue will be null.

Trust me, you're better off getting a ps3 because you do NOT want to deal w/ Xbox360 customer service when your 360 breaks. And it WILL break. Its only a matter of time.

killzone 2, hands down. it still has an active online and its a higher quality game in every way. people slowed down playing r2 a while ago

killzone 2 was one the games that set out to show ppl how powerful the ps3 hardware is

check out gameplay vids on youtube...you may feel r2 is better. plus kz2 has a demo

what do you hate about fallout 3?

I dont know much about Fallout. You said its an RPG but not turn-based? Is it an FPS? I hate FPS's. What would you say is the closest in play style?

Yeah its an rpg not turn based, all that really means is the game is outlined by points, numbers, percentages, and statistics with pretty much everything action wise in the game. It's alot more in depth with how your character is played and created. I know it sounds crazy but games like this are actually better because the customization and depth is usually beyond ill. They spent about 8 years to make this game. Fallout plays like a fps, but its much more than that. The vats system is so damn ill, thats what breaks it from being like another regular FPS on da reals. So much more than that and within the first 20 minutes of playin it ull know. Theres a reason why so much DLC for this game is being released and now that i think about they gonna release another one.

Now besides that,

360 gang b*tch thats what im claimin! thumbsup.gif

THAT right there with Snizzy's review got me convinced. Luckily it's only $18 on Amazon today. And I got Amazon clam codes from filling out quick surveys. If you want in on that, join here:

http://OpinionOutpost.com/join/7736241

YOu get about $2 per survey (15 min) and you cash out in AMazon Gift cards.

Thursday will be my Fallout day. I got 2 days to be Uncharted 2.
